Facade renovation in Biarritz, Rue Gardague

Initial condition

Building located in the center of Biarritz, with a west-facing stone facade requiring careful conservation work. It needed stone treatment, joint repair, and restoration of metal elements and downpipes.

  • Stone treatment with careful cleaning and consolidation.
  • Inspection and repair of the stone joints.
  • Application of a water repellent on the lower part of the facade to ensure protection against humidity.
  • Dismantling of iron balconies, sandblasting, powder-coating and reinstallation.
  • Replacement of the two lateral downpipes.
  • Painting of the three upper skylights (châssis in French).

The building regained the elegance of its stone facade with a respectful and durable treatment, and the community was fully satisfied with the work. The restoration not only provided aesthetic value and protection, but also the peace of mind of having a comprehensive intervention.

A special memory

On this project I experienced one of the most significant moments of my professional career: meeting Mrs. Pilar Azpiroz, a neighbor on the first floor, originally from Navarre. I met her at the age of 97 and we maintained a personal relationship full of affection and mutual respect.

Pilar was a lovely person who left an indelible mark on me and on the entire team.

She passed away at 101, but her memory remains alive and I consider her one of the most beautiful gifts my profession has given me.
